From Ciudad Juárez, México — Melissa Rosales is a womenswear designer that holds a BS in Apparel Design and Manufacturing from Texas Tech University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Fashion Design and Society at Parsons School of Design.
Coming from a Mexican background, she is fascinated with the exploration of her past, experiences, and emotions. Her calling is to communicate these aspects through garments.
As a hypersensitive person and designer, she has a strong emotional attachment to clothes. For her, dress is, at its heart, really about memory, meaning, and intimacy. Melissa sees fashion as a form of art; she believes clothes can provide refuge, acting as a canopy under which people shelter their most secret agonies. People are in clothes. Perhaps people are the most themselves in the things they wear.
